Sugar Sugar! is a free outdoor performing arts series presented by Public Assembly at Domino Park, staged Wednesdays and Thursdays at sunset through June 2026. Across four weeks, seven artists premiered work conceived specifically for the park — dance, puppetry, theater, performance art, and music — in Domino Square’s waterfront amphitheater. A different discipline premiered every week, so the rig had to reconfigure continuously across the run, and the lighting had to make each night look designed rather than merely lit.
Revolutionary Lighting handled both lighting design and lighting systems design for the series. Domino Square had five perimeter masts, all of them too far off the performance area at unflattering angles to carry the show alone. We built a temporary truss position at front of house, and designed a second one the venue installed permanently — a fifteen-foot 12x12 truss tower in the greenery, now a fixed lighting position they use for everything. On top of that we built four roving towers, six-foot rolling bases carrying an Ayrton Rivale profile up top and Astera QuikPunches below, with hazers at the base so the atmosphere traveled with the light. The towers moved to new positions every week as the program changed. Eight Astera AX5 pars floated — footlights for one artist, band light for the next, reset for every performance. Several artists also used our Astera Titan Tubes built into their set pieces.
